Hackney Cement Association and various artists, The Spot, 2004?-present, Markfield Park, Tottenham, Haringey Council
Having wandred round here a few times I had at first taken it as a late 90’s skate park built by the council to keep the kids out of trouble. Turns out the kids built it them selves! The BMX area and the Graffiti walls occupy the northern walled filter beds of the former Victorian sewage treatment works for Tottenham. The BMX riders “took ownership” of this seemingly abandoned part of the heritage site developing and maintaining it. The northern walled area next to the train line is the Graffiti area. They are now both officially incorporated as part of Markfield Park
