Catherine Rive, Holcombe Market Murals, 2005, Holcombe Road, Haringey Council
The area here in front of the Post Office and market stalls feels like the closest thing to a town square on the High Road. I remember seeing a gathering here one Easter where they had a man dressed as Jesus being carried down the road on a cross. The stalls were painted in 2004/2005 by Catherine Rive. This has gone now. The market buildings were demolished earlier this year with fish stall and Hall’s Fruit & Veg (which has been on the High Road for over 100 years) temporary relocated to shipping containers nearby whilst the market is redeveloped.
